Leading aged care provider launches new luxury independent living brand
Wednesday, 4 September, 2019: One of Australia’s leading names in premium aged care, Dr Shane Moran, has launched a new luxury independent living venture, ‘by Moran’ that will sit alongside his renowned leading Aged Care brand, Provectus Care.
The new brand will make its foray with ‘The Rose by Moran’, in Wahroonga, comprising 34 two and three-bedroom premium residences set on the property of one of the area’s best known stately heritage homes, ‘Rosemorran’.
Dr Moran, formerly the CEO of the Moran Health Group, launched his Provectus brand in 2001, delivering luxury aged care with communities in Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne and the Gold Coast and expanding his group into the Asia Pacific region with two facilities already on the ground in China.
Dr Moran’s exciting new independent living business ‘by Moran’ is currently finalising two further high-end projects and he is in discussions for another four premium facilities with senior developers and funders, who he says, are extremely keen to be involved with this type of project.
The brand-new residences at ‘The Rose by Moran’ are priced from $1.2M through to $3.4M for a three-bedroom penthouse. All residences have secure parking, large outdoor living areas (some with private gardens), and the highest quality appointments.
The apartments, due for completion by late 2020, are offered under standard retirement village terms with monthly fees and a departure fee payable when you leave.
Di Jones, Wahroonga together with the ‘by Moran’ team is managing the sales.
First-class amenities include concierge, private shuttle, club room and bar, dining room, library, music room, spa, infra-red sauna, gym, pool, conservatory, cellar and cinema.
A large range of services and activities are available which prioritise residents’ health and well-being and also ensure access to any additional assisted living services as their needs change. 24-hour emergency service is provided.
Dr Moran’s move into the premium independent living space comes after more than 30 years in the private health and aged care sectors.
Dr Moran says the pivot is a natural move, given the significant increase in demand for high-quality living options for the ageing baby boomer demographic.
“Today’s retirees are ready for a new chapter in their life that enables them to pursue their interests and passions, to be active and healthy, and to engage with their local community and friends and family in a meaningful way,” he says.
Dr Moran is building facilities to directly cater for this demand for quality living options that provide the standard of living these new retirees are used to in their own neighbourhoods, without the cost and worry of maintaining a large family home.
“There is an enormous growth in active, older downsizers wanting not just a more convenient and worry-free lifestyle, but also a more connected one.
“Loneliness for our older loved ones is a concerning social issue that is known to be a major factor of depression and illness.
“The benefits of living in a social and engaging environment where you can enjoy an extensive range of activities and amenities can have a substantial, positive impact on your health and well-being, as well as your overall happiness and enjoyment of life.
“We saw a real gap in the premium market – the ‘by Moran’ brand is for those people wanting to maintain the same high living standards they are used to while enjoying a carefree lifestyle that lets them spend their time and resources on the things that are important to them in a safe and secure environment with other like-minded people,” says Dr Moran.
The Rose by Moran will be Dr Moran’s flagship facility for the Upper North Shore.
“We will only take on a project in an area that we are sure has the demand for this type of quality product. The Upper North Shore is one of the premium areas of Sydney and fits the criteria for a ‘by Moran’ community perfectly,” he says.
The owner of the historic Mansion, Marc de Stoop, is a long-term friend of Dr Moran and when Marc asked him to be involved Dr Moran saw it as the ideal opportunity to introduce his new premium concept in luxury independent living.
Dr Moran says ‘The Rose by Moran’ project was particularly special to him, as he grew up and lived in Wahroonga for many years, not far from the property.
Dr Moran is also known for his passion for restoring heritage homes and was committed to ensuring that the preservation of this well-known, iconic local landmark was undertaken with the utmost care.
The mansion has undergone a full restoration under the close eye of heritage specialists, with highlights including handcrafted cedar joinery, centrepiece fireplaces and detailed stained glass windows.
It has now been transformed into the heart of the new Rose By Moran community, with its beautiful formal rooms creating part of the 2500sqm of communal spaces, including a library, music room, dining room, therapy rooms, a hairdresser, cinema, social club lounges and bars, a wine cellar and indoor pool and gym. There is an additional 1500sqm of pet friendly garden and landscaping on site.
Renowned firm, Antoniades Architects, has designed the 34 brand new, spacious, light-filled, modern residences to be set well back from the entrance and surrounded by trees and greenery, providing a tranquil and private living environment.
The residences are connected to the heritage mansion by a grand entrance through a stunning conservatory, and there is ample basement parking with direct lift access to the apartments.
Inside each of the 34 pet-friendly apartments, timber flooring is included in living spaces, 100 per cent wool carpets in bedrooms, while other touches like quartz benchtops, and brass or chrome finishes round out a high-luxe feel, as do the generous private outdoor spaces. Miele and Fisher & Paykel appliances are included throughout kitchens and laundries.
The property has been styled by leading interior design firm Coco Republic, showcasing the first collaboration between the two premium brands, which will also extend to tailored furniture and design packages to be made available to purchasers.
“We’re delighted to be partnering with such a strong and respected name as Coco Republic. We’re perfectly aligned in terms of our customer-centric approach and our ongoing commitment to excellence.
“We view our work together on this project as just the beginning of a long-term brand partnership that can serve to achieve even higher results for our customers,” says Dr Moran.
Coco Republic Director Jeremy Byrne says there is a strong meeting of minds between the two brands.
“At Coco Republic one of our core client demographics is the downsizer, the over 55’s, baby boomer, looking to downscale their home and upgrade their life. These people, however, do not want to compromise on their current high living standards,” says Mr Byrne.
“‘By Moran’ answers the needs of this purchaser demographic by providing a premium option where by the residents will live in a luxury development that is geared to convenience in a social environment with low maintenance living without compromising on design, space and lifestyle.
“We are honoured for our partnership, and we hope to play some small role in their pursuit of changing the premium offering to the downsizer sector across the property market in Australia, as evidenced with the launch of the first of their ‘by Moran’ properties,” says Mr Byrne.
