Residents in The Hills are being urged to think outside the “house and land” box and embrace new ways of living to stay in the community they love.
To help encourage a shift in thinking, Capital Bluestone hosted a “Life on the Lake” event on Wednesday 30th November 2016 at its Esplanade display suite on Norwest Lake to highlight the lifestyle benefits of apartment living.
The Greater Sydney Commission’s Draft Central West District Plan, released last week, says The Hills will house an extra 125,350 people by 2036. In the Central West District, 53,500 more dwellings are needed by 2021.
Capital Bluestone Executive Chairman Steve Grant says this level of growth will need to be accommodated in diverse ways, not just through the traditional house and land package typical of The Hills region.
“For many people, the great Australian dream comes with a block of land and this is a great dream to aspire to,” he says. “However, a shift in thinking to view apartment living as a viable and attractive way to live can expose local residents to a completely new lifestyle in the community they love.”
“As we can see at Esplanade, an apartment lifestyle offers more than just a place to live. Resort-like facilities such as an outdoor cinema, putting green, pool and gymnasium are supported by a fine-dining precinct and a public boardwalk on the lake. We are creating a vertical village where people feel at home and are afforded a convenient lifestyle thanks to the amenities and restaurants at their doorstep.”
Mr Grant is no stranger to transformation in The Hills. He is considered a pioneer of the Norwest Business Park, having seen the potential for a vibrant employment centre on land once occupied by dairies and chicken farms.
“My experience in Norwest showed me that people just need to have a bit of faith in what the future can deliver,” he says. “Norwest is now one of the largest suburban business district in Sydney with close to 30,000 jobs situated here.
“The Hills has already seen a great deal of growth, with property values lifting in line with investment in infrastructure such as the M2 and M7. The opening of the Metro Northwest presents another huge opportunity for growth. What’s needed now is diverse housing options to support these jobs and cater for a growing population.”
Business and community leaders, commercial buyers and future residents of Esplanade and their friends and family attended the “Life on the Lake” event to share the vision behind apartment living on Norwest Lake.
“We understand that the idea of apartment living seems quite foreign to many people in The Hills,” Mr Grant said. “We thought it best to take away some of the mystery and show that fostering a sense of community is a real focus at Esplanade. By bringing our future residents and community leaders together for a social evening, we could celebrate the unique, low-maintenance and convenient way of living apartments bring to this area.”
Prices at Esplanade started from $525,000 for a one-bedroom unit while two-bedroom apartments with parking started from $725,000. A range of premium lakefront apartments have recently been released, and the penthouse collection will come onto the market in early next year.
Construction of Esplanade is expected to start in 2017.
